These 3 aspects comprise the foundation for all the other ITEC complementary therapy courses and are integrated into a course designed to give thorough background knowledge as well as the confidence to begin professional therapy work.
Anatomy, physiology & pathology units are taught in the morning and can be taken separately. Body Massage with the remaining units can also be taken separately.
Students will study:
- All body systems and their disorders
- Contraindications and benefits of massage
- Other complementary therapies
- Professional ethics and the Law
- Hygiene, first aid and safety
- Creating your business plan
Practical sessions:
- Swedish massage movements for a whole body treatment
- Review of case studies
- Further off-syllabus techniques
Examination:
- Anatomy & Physiology theory paper (50 multiple choice questions)
- Practical exam- 45 minutes
Case Studies:
- 6 Clients (2 treatments each)
Assignments:
- Less Common Pathology for Complementary Therapies
- Principles & Practice for Complementary Therapies
- Business Practice for Complementary Therapies
- Health, Safety & Hygiene for Complementary Therapies
Practical Assignment
- 18 massage treatments (6 clients x 3)
