AromatherapyITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy

Pre-requisite:

  • ITEC Anatomy, physiology & pathology and Body Massage plus units 347, 348, 349,350 or equivalent

Aromatherapy uses essential oils to maintain and promote the health of the body, mind and emotions. It has its roots in ancient healing practices using the aromatic parts of plants and is now one of the best researched of the complementary therapies. The course provides a detailed study of 42 essential oils and the techniques to apply them during a massage, and is especially appropriate to stress release.

Students will study:

  • The history of Aromatherapy
  • Carrier oils and blending
  • The effects of essential oils on the body, mind and emotions
  • Absorption routes
  • Extraction methods and chemistry
  • Home uses of essential oils

Practical sessions:

  • Include a full body massage and accupressure points
  • Use of 42 essential oils
  • Review of case studies

Examination:

Practical:

  • Consultation and treatment (1 hour)

Case Studies:

  • 6 case studies - 6 treatments each plus 9 home treatments
Assignments
  • 15 additional treatmnets
  • research 15 essential oils
